Flapjacks

Makes 10
INGREDIENTS
100g/4oz butter
50g/2oz soft brown sugar
4 tablespoons golden syrup
250g/9oz rolled or porridge oats

Preheat oven to: 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4. Butter the baking tin.

Put the butter, sugar and golden syrup into a saucepan. Stir the sauce over a low heat until the butter has melted and the sugar has dissolved.

Next add the oats to the pan, and stir well. Pour the mixture into the tin, pressing it down firmly until it Is about 5cm/2in thick.

Put the flapjacks in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden.

Take them out of the oven. Leave them to cool for 15 minutes in the tin, then cut into squares or rectangles.

Variation

Why not try adding 2 tablespoons currants or a teaspoon ground ginger?
